“I have every right to have fertility treatment!”

That’s right. All married, unmarried couples and single women have the right to fertility treatment in Berlin. Egg donation and surrogacy, however, are not allowed in Germany. This is the most important legal information that you need to know about your fertility treatment. In closer detail, the legal side is more complicated. This is because fertility treatment comes into contact with three different laws: firstly, the Embryo Protection Act and secondly the Transplantation and Tissue Act. The third consists of the state medical association’s professional regulations and guidelines on reproductive medicine, which depend on each federal state.
